Sri Lanka’s Best Corporate Citizens awards to have Covid focus

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said a Corporate Citizens Award this year will pay attention to firms that have successfully coped with a Coronavirus crisis.

The ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2021 (BCCS Awards)’ is an application-based award conducted by the Chamber for the last 18 years.

The Chamber said this year’s award evaluation includes the COVID-19 pandemic that affected corporates and sustainability in 2020.

“Therefore the award highlights the need to mainstream business emergency preparedness, resilience, and stakeholder management of a business to face unforeseen challenges,” Chamber said.

It also says that the award not only awards large corporations but also encourages the efforts of smaller enterprises as well.

“It recognises the efforts of the private and public sector to interact responsibly with its stakeholders, through recognising the importance of corporate sustainability in Sri Lanka,” Chamber said.

Focal areas of the competition include environment, customer relations, community relations, governance, financial performance, and economic contribution.

The Chamber expects to conduct the preliminary briefing on the application process on August 12, 2021, at 2.00 pm via MS Teams and the updates of BCCS Awards 2021 will be posted on its social media platforms to create awareness amongst the prospective applicants.

The programme will be conducted using a digital platform.
