Colombo, July 26 (NewsWire) – The ‘Hundred Cities’ programme will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Hiripitiya Town in Kurunegala tomorrow.
The project will see the beatification of 100 selected cities across all 25 districts in the country.
Under the ‘Hundred Cities’ programme, the Government intends to beautify 100 cities in the country that have been identified as causing inconvenience to the public due to unorganized development.
The Government will convert the identified cities into public friendly and beautified cities by taking necessary steps according to a proper plan.
The Government has allocated Rs. 20 million per city under the development project.
The cities selected to be beautified under the project are as follows:
Kotikawatta, Hanwella, Padukka, Embulgama, Kaduwela, Vidyala Junction, and Moratuwa.
Peliyagoda, Ekala, Aweriyawatte, Minuwangoda, Henegama, Mirigama, Divulapitiya, Ganemulla, Pugoda, and Attanagalla.
Horana, Nagoda, Dodangoda, and Meegahathenna.
Weerawila, Ranna, Chitragala, Nonagama, Angunukolapelessa, and Lunugamvehera.
Deiyandara, Morawaka, Pitabeddara, Deniyaya, Weligama, and Kamburupitiya.
Kumarakanda, Benthara, Ambalangoda, and Habaraduwa.
Kuruwita, Ayagala, Nivithigala, Godakawela, and Balangoda.
Rambukkana, Galigamuwa, Bulathkohupitiya, and Morontota.
Kobeigane, Ambanpola, Hiripitiya, Bingiriya, Alawwa, Hettipola, Pannala, Polgahawela, and Bambukatuwa.
Chilaw, Thoppuwa, and Palaviya.
