A cyber attack has been launched on several Sri Lankan websites today.
The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) said the cyber attack had targeted the websites of the Health Ministry, Rajarata University, and the Sri Lankan Embassy in China.
The websites were replaced with a post stating Tamil Eelam Cyber Force Operation Mullivaikkal.
SLCERT said, however, the websites have now been restored.
It is suspected that the cyber attack has taken place to coincide with the commemoration of those who were killed in Mullivaikkal in Mullaitivu during the last phase of the Sri Lankan civil war.
The commemoration of the war victims of Mullivaikkal is marked on the 18th of May every year, since the end of the war in 2009. (NewsWire)
