MP Rishad Bathiudeen had acted in a highly irresponsible manner prior to his arrest, Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris said yesterday.
Appearing on behalf of the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday he informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court that an Apple mobile phone had been dropped from the third floor of the apartment in Dehiwala,
where former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was hiding. DSG Peiris further stated that the Apple phone had been dropped when the CID officers went to arrest the former minister. He said that CID had found the National Identity Card and the official Parliamentary identity card while it was hidden in a vehicle belonging to Bathiudeen there.
He also told the Magistrate that Bathiudeen’s bodyguards had assisted him in this and thathe had acted in a manner unsuitable for a Member of Parliament.
