MP Angajan takes action over dilapidated Kumar Anandan Swimming Pool in Velvettithurai

Sri Lanka Freedom Party MP Angajan Ramanathan has instructed relevant officials to take necessary measures to maintain the Kumar Anandan Swimming Pool in Velvettithurai.

The MP said via Twitter that the Swimming pool which is vested with the Valvettithurai Urban Council and costed Rs. 25 million is in a dilapidated state due to a lack of maintenance.

The Kumar Anandan Swimming pool was inaugurated in Valvettithurai in August 2019.
The Swimming pool was built to honour Aalikumaran Anandan who is the 2nd man to swim across Palk Strait to India in 1971 and holds 7 Guinness World Records.

The Pool is located where he commenced the swim to cross the Palk Strait.

It is reportedly in a dilapidated state after being handed over to the Valvettithurai Urban Council. (NewsWire)
