Prime Minister’s Office statement spreading false news

The Prime Minister’s Office announces that the rumors circulating that a police officer attached to the Prime Minister’s Office has contracted COVID-19 coronavirus are completely untrue.

The office further states that none of the Prime Minister’s Office security personnel working at the Prime Minister’s Office, Temple Trees or the Prime Minister’s Official Residence at Wijerama have contracted COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a security officer of an external unit attached to the Prime Minister’s Security Division was found to have contracted COVID-19.

The officer, who is only involved in pre-security arrangements for outdoor events attended by the Prime Minister, has not reported for duty since October 17.
