ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks gained 1.53 per cent at Thursday’s close on Carson Cumberbatch, Sri Lanka Telecom and Bukit Darah Plc, provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 1.53 per cent or 87.22 points to close at 5,771.89.
The main index started positive but fell to a daily low at 5,617.33 during the first hour into trading but picked up and continued to increase throughout the day on volatile trading.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.32 per cent or 7.29 points to 2,294.89.
The market turnover was 2.2 billion rupees with 10 stocks gaining and 236 falling.
Carson Cumberbatch contributed most to ASPI’s gain, gaining 18.20 rupees a share to trade at 268.90 rupees.
Sri Lanka Telecom gains 1.50 rupees to trade at 31.10 rupees a share and Bukit Darah gained 24.90 rupees to trade at 375.00 rupees a share also contributing to the ASPI gain.
The Net foreign buying in the market was 50.7 million rupees.
The Transportation industry index, which was the most active, gained 4.6 per cent.
